Well Done

A member from my church was in sbux, and he said something awesome to me today. He said that if the Lord came in and saw me at work today, He would say to me:

Well done, good and faithful one.

I was totally floored by this, and I almost cried (and after I got off of work, I did cry). Today in particular, I really was trying to be a good worker since someone mentioned to me a couple of days earlier that I was an unfocused slacker. I was offended, but then I realized that I often do have a bad attitude about going to work. I didn't want to continue on this course, and so I thought that maybe I could try to have a more diligent and hardworking attitude.

When those six simple words were spoken, I couldn't stop thinking about it. I was day dreaming about it, in fact, and it was just so beautiful and wonderful, and it's kept me on the verge of tears because it makes me so happy to think about it.

I imagine a clear blue sky, and as I float upon the clouds they aren't icy and cold as reality tells us. Instead, they are fluffy and warm- it is warm, and I'm like a feather, floating on a warm breeze. I can picture being clothed in a flowing golden dress and shoeless, and the gates open wide, and I am brought before the One I've been waiting my whole life to meet. And I'm excited and nervous, and my heart pounds so hard that it rattles my ribcage, and my cheeks are blushing, and I can't help but look down, knowing that I am certainly not worthy to even be in His presence.

And then, He steps from His golden throne, and I turn my eyes for a glimpse of glory, and I quickly look back down hoping that His beauty will not shatter me completely. He is as big as a tower and He is beautiful to see. Light radiates not only around Him but from Him- He is the source of the LIGHT that we had been calling the sun. The angels with their one million eyeballs are shouting and singing and they can't help but applaud the King of Kings. I can only get on my knees and look down.

He lifts up His enormous hand- it is a beautiful hand- the fingers are perfection, they aren't too thin, they are the hands of an artist, the hands of a worker, the hands of a father, the hands of a lover, and He holds it up to silence the crowd. And He kneels down to me and takes my hand, and gently helps me to my feet, and He lifts my face up with a gentle finger under my chin and He looks me straight in the eye and He says:

"Well, done, good and faithful one."

There is silence and everyone has goose pimples on their arms. His voice. OH, WOW. It's warm and deep, and I can feel it resonate through my soul, and it feels as though I'm permanently clean and nothing will ever change it again. All the worthlessness and rejection that had been following me- gone! All of the evil and vile thoughts- gone! All of the violence and covetousness- gone! Everything is gone, gone, gone... gone, so long!

All I can feel is His warmth, His tenderness, His affection, and His love. And I know without a doubt that I am My Beloved's and He is MINE.

I love it when God uses the simplest things to touch our hearts while we're here on earth, but I'll tell you what- I can't wait to go to heaven!!!!

Sister Blister

Sisters. What in heavens was God thinking when he invented them?! Take Leah and Rachel for example! Maybe seperately they would have been fine, but together? Sheesh, I wouldn't want to be in the same room with those two even if you paid me. Well... depends on the sum...

For some reason or other, I just cannot seem to understand my sister or how she works. It seems that I'm constantly finding myself annoyed with her. She is older, and she is married, and she also thinks that she knows EVERYTHING. And she makes these suggestions that are really condescending, and she gives me really impractical advice that doesn't even relate to what I'm talking about.

We are as different as night and day. I feel like she is very simple, and I know that she's smarter than me in some ways, but in a lot of ways, I'm a lot smarter than her. I feel as though I understand her, but she doesn't really understand me at all. We can't relate to each other. And it kinda breaks my heart.

I love my sister, I really do. Sometimes I think that I love her a lot more than she loves me. And sometimes... I just feel like this continent is not big enough for the two of us.

Resolutions for the New Year

As always, I make resolutions for the new year (even if I don't always stay commited to them). The year 2008 is not exempt from my resolutions:

1. I resolve to get healthy.
That means eating right (for me, that means no red meat or pork and no bleached starches or sugars). That also means excercising on a regular basis- yuck. Maybe I can join an intramural sport or something so that it won't feel like "excercise."

2. I resolve to dig deeper.
I think it's about time for me to really dig into intercessory prayer, dream interpretation, and also just exhorting people prophetically. All around hearing the voice of God and being able to speak it to others would be nice.

3. I resolve to have weekly adventure!
At first, I resolved to have a daily adventure, and while that is ideal, I think for right now, I'll start off with a weekly adventure and perhaps add more if necessary. I don't know what adventures to have, so I'll need some help coming up with ideas.

4. I resolve to take a picture a day.
I heard about this from someone else (though I can't remember who). I thought it was an excellent idea. It would be a great way for me to get out and explore more. Though, I can probably guarantee that about 60% of the pictures I take will be of kitty cats.

5. I resolve to dance more.
Within the past few months or so, I have stopped going to swing dances. Now, I'm not saying that I'm going to start going to swing dances again, but I'm thinking of dusting off my tap shoes and giving it another chance.

6. I resolve to spend and save more wisely.
Most of my money goes towards eating out or to the Chik-fil-a and Zaxby's drive thrus. Food is one of the top killers of my ability to save money, and so I am going to take it out. I will still go out if everyone is going, but I might just pack lunches for myself so that it will take the temptation away from spending on every little thing.

7. I resolve to get a Mac before the end of the year.
Okay, so I was intending to get one for Christmas, but after reveiwing my financial situation, I have decided to forgo this idea for the now. Also, I have about ten different people telling me what kind I should get and what programs I should have on it, and until I can drown out everyone else's opinions and come up with a conclusion of my own, then I will I finally get one... before the end of the new year.

8. I resolve to be more punctual. I'm perpetually late.
I need to get to work, and church, and practices much earlier than I do. I'm also talking about school applications. I have been slacking a little on getting them filled out, and I really should get them out of the way so that I can start working on my taxes and also, so that I can really prepare for my audition in March.

So these are my resolutions. I only have eight so as to not overwhelm myself.

Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas! As a gift to myself, I decided to start yet another blog. Sure I blog on myspace, xanga, facebook, and livejournal, but I'm a gal who likes to write, so it's only natural for me to have many, many blogs.

I'm visiting my parents for Christmas, and we have no Christmas tree :( But we do have presents :) Though I really miss my crew in ATL, it's good to be with my folks. It's funny how parents fundamentally stay the same- or at least, mine do.

That makes me wonder about my older years- will I be unchangeable? I hope that if I am, it's a good kind of unchangeable. I want to be one of those little old ladies who go sky diving, and ride motorcycles, and have bluish-purple colored hair. I don't think those ladies mean to have bluish-purple hair... or maybe they do? I'm not sure, perhaps they think that it's more becoming than trying to dye it black, brown, red, or other colors, and maybe the bluish-purple lasts longer and blends well with gray. I don't quite know, but if I ever get the chance, I want to be one of them.
.
Anyway, Christmas is not my favorite holiday, because though I absolutely love Jesus and I love that He was born this day, I'm not a very good "birthday" friend. I often forget peoples birthdays, and yeah, it's pretty impossible to forget His birthday, but at the same time we're surrounded by commercialism and capitalism. It gets me down a little. I think Jesus would tell us: "Enough with the glitz and sparkly lights! Just come away with me and spend some quality time with me already!"
What do you think?
